Montezuma II Biography

Montezuma II
Montezuma II
Montezuma II Biography
Moctezuma Xocoyotl (1466-1520), better known as Montezuma II was born about the year 1466 AD From the descendants of the king, he is the youngest Axacatatl Maharaja, who ruled between the years 1469-81. Aztec king inherited and is not replaced by Ahuitzotl Axacayatl, the kind of hero whose rule between 1481-1502. Competent, have no sense of mercy and malignant, Ahuitzotl expanding Aztec empire and sacrifice is said to have held twenty thousand prisoners in the development teocalli, or sacrifice "temple."

When Ahuitzotl died, the board of nobles chose this theology students who are considered young even though the full potential for bold as the next emperor. This is Xocoyotl Moctezuma, last name means "younger."

The young Maharaja immediately showed signs of the caliber of government. Often campaigned in the presence of military forces, he won 43 battle crush his enemy that operates in the southern kingdom of the Aztecs.

Montezuma is a strong government in the country. He built and decorated the temples and provide clean water supplies in the capital city at Tenochtitlán to build aqueducts twins. To promote compliance with the law, he turned to using the tactics of giving a bribe to the judge to determine their sincerity. He also merayau on the streets in disguise to determine its laws obeyed.

What causes the fall of Montezuma to the case can be summarized: bawdy religious beliefs. Haunted by the belief obscene and as a student of theology, he was familiar with the legend of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec god who is believed to be home to Mexico as a white beard. Montezuma is very confident that this will mark the return of the god of the fall of his empire.
By it, so he knows the Spanish army landing (a bearded and white) in Veracruz, Montezuma hit a dilemma. He held a meeting with the supreme adviser, including his ally, King of Texcoco Cacama. But this discussion has reached a dead end, some would oppose military kerana Cortés, while the other half would serve as the god of this explorer.
Finally, Montezuma has made a decision that is right: that is by giving a bribe to leave Cortés to Mexico is to take the form of a gift of gold to him. "It just opens the wealth and weakness," wrote William H. Prescott, a historian of the conquest of Mexico's famous century-l9. Cortés has a bold attitude, perhaps because of a deep desire to conquer Mexico.

When told by the representative of Montezuma Montezuma that Cortés was reluctant to see him smugly replied that he would leave Mexico while he was not going to Tenochtitlan to pay homage to the Maharaja. As a token of his sincerity, he has ordered all ships (except one) to be burned and destroyed.

This drastic action has increased the fear of Montezuma. He finally picked up to go to the Cortés capital Tenochtitlán on November 12, 1519. In addition, he has allowed Cortés and several aides to enter the kingdom Mahligai. Cortéspun take this opportunity to hold Montezuma in his own place on the grounds he had ordered his people on the coast to attack the Spanish garrison at Veracruz.

Spanish parties now have a valuable ransom. Although arrested and persecuted Montezuma kidnappers are still flattering. Instead he accepted their requests such as cleaning up the victims, raising the cross on the temple, accepted Christianity and also adherent to the King of Spain at that time namely King Carlos V. His actions have caused outrage people.

To compound the problem, Cortés received the bad news that the Spanish troops had been driven by Velázquez to arrest him for denying his orders are not conquer the country of Mexico. He mandated the administration of the capital entrusted to his lieutenant Pedro de Alvarado namely lieutenant. Then, he and his army moved toward Cuba and killing their expedition led by Panfilo de Narvaez. Cortés then informs the losing side of the capital city of gold in Tenochtitlán, and they agreed to accompany Cortés army.

When Cortés returned to the capital, he found that Alvarado and his army have been killed by a gang of all Aztec nobility and those who are still alive have a new overlord menabalkan the Cuitláhuac. Alvarado has been doing so because they think it's a religious ceremony as a rebellion. Cuitláhuac then directed his officers to surround Mahligai occupied by the Spanish and Montezuma. Cortés had no other options and asked to speak on the bridge Montezuma Mahligai to its people and urged them to let the Spanish soldiers out safely. However, people already hate him especially after defiled their religion by raising the cross on their temples and murder directed by Alvarado. Then they were taunting him and throwing big stones at him. Montezuma consequently suffered severe injuries on his head. Cortés La Malinche together to try to negotiate with groups that oppose it, but the talks ended when the emperor died two weeks after that on June 30, 1520.

Edwin L Drake, Father of Modern Petroleum Industry

Edwin L Drake
Edwin L Drake

Edwin L Drake, Father of Modern Petroleum Industry
History of the modern oil industry can not escape the name of Edwin Drake Laurentin. The first commercial drilling of petroleum in the world when Edwin L Drake with his company Senca Oil Company discovered oil in Titusville America. He managed to remove the oil from the earth. The well is made in the middle of agricultural areas in northwestern Pennsylvania. Drake chose the location for the business of oil drilling because of earlier citizens of the region is often found when digging oil wells to find water. The first oil well was known as The Drake Well and the success of the first oil drilling is to start oil exploration around the world. Laurentin Edwin Drake was born in March 1819 in Greenville, New York, United States.

Drake is also known as Colonel Drake. Her father, Lyman Drake and his mother Laura (Nee Lee) Drake. He grew up in farming families around Castleton and New York State, Rutland County, Vermont before leaving home at age 19 years. He spent his life working on the railroad in New Haven, Connecticut as a clerk, conductor and express agent. During that time he married Philena Adams who died while giving birth to her second child in 1854. Drake married again three years later to Laura Dowd in 1857.

Laurentin Edwin Drake claims the title as the Father of Modern Petroleum Industry as on date of August 27, 1859 the first commercial oil drilling in Titusville, Pennsylvania. His discovery began when one day the eyes of drill touches the oil layer at a depth of 69.5 feet (21 meters). Kerosene is known prior to this, there is no market that can be assessed for it. Samuel Martin Kier credited with establishing first U.S. oil refinery in Pittsburgh. He was the first in the United States to refine crude oil into lamp oil (kerosene) a new market to replace whale oil as lamp oil Seneca Oil formed in 1858 by George Bissell and Jonathan Eveleth initially contacted the Pennsylvania Rock Oil Company. They created the company after learning the report on petroleum collected from a source of oil in Titusville,

Pennsylvania is suitable for use as lamp fuel was whale oil. Bissell found that this would be a practical alternative if a method could be devised to refine oil from the ground. Interest in the Pennsylvania Rock Oil Company was originally a low to a report by Eveleth and Bissell showed that there is significant value in the oil economy. Before being offered a job by Eveleth and Bissell, Drake bought the shares at the Seneca Oil. But the company got the job opportunities for both parties live in the same hotel in Titusville. He was hired with a salary of $ 1,000 a year investigating the seepage of oil on land owned by Reference Biography: Seneca Oil. Edwin Drake was hired by Seneca Oil Company to investigate suspected to be the place of oil deposits in Titusville, Pennsylvania. James Townsend, President of the Seneca Oil Company, sent Drake to the source location in 1858. Drake bought a steam engine in Erie, Pennsylvania, to move the drilling machine. Wells dug on an island in the Oil Creek took a lot of time to penetrate the layers of rocks.

At 16 feet (5 m) side of the hole began to collapse. They made him begin to despair. But not Drake. That makes the idea for her to make the steering tube. This iron pipe consisting of a ten foot connection. Pipe driven into the ground. At 32 feet (10 m) they hit a rock. The tool then lowered through the drill pipe and the steam engine used to drill rock. Drilling is slow. Progress gained only three feet (1 m) per day. The crowd began to flout the seemingly non-productive operations. Drake was running out of money, with wonderful Seneca Oil Company which has left Drake, they had to rely on friends to re-try. On August 27 Drake drilling has reached total depth of 69.5 feet (21 m). Billy Smith, studying and preparing for the job opening.

He was surprised to see crude oil that comes out. Drake summoned and brought to the surface oil with a pump. Oil is collected in a bath tub. Famous Drake pioneered a new method for producing oil from the ground he memasangn pipe-lines to prevent the drill hole collapsed to penetrate further into the ground. Previous methods to collect oil that rely on very limited oil seepage where it occurs naturally, or dig a shallow hole into the ground. Drake an important step to take is to guide the thirty-two iron pipes to the ground into the rock below. Drake drilled in the pipe, without the hole collapsing from water seepage. The principle idea is still practiced today by many companies that drill for hydrocarbons.

Drake Well in Titusville is the first well that was widely imitated. In a day of Drake's striking oil, Drake's methods are emulated by others along Oil Creek and in the immediate area. This culminated with the establishment of a city suddenly rising prices of oil along the bay. Drake wells producing 25 barrels (4.0 m3) of oil per day. In 1871, the entire area was producing 5.8 million barrels (920 000 m3) per year. Drake that provides trading business to refine and sell oil. But, while his pioneering work in the direction of growth in the oil industry that made an incredibly rich man, Drake riches proved the least .. Drake did not control a good business acumen. He failed to get his patent drill discovery. Then he lost all of his savings in oil speculation in 1863. He was to end up as a weak father and husband. In 1872, Pennsylvania gave $ 1,500 allowance for "the bankrupt" to find the oil industry. Drake died 9 November 1880 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, at the age of 61 years. where he lived since 1874. He and his wife were buried in Titusville, built a memorial in his honor.

He also served as a global example of mid-19th century revolutionary nationalism and liberalism. But after the liberation of southern Italy from the Neapolitan monarchy, Garibaldi chose to sacrifice the principles of liberal republic after unification.

Garibaldi subscribed to anti-clericalism common among Latin liberals and did much to limit the temporal power of the papacy. His personal religious beliefs is not clear to historians, in 1882 he wrote "Man created God, not God created Man," but in his autobiography he is quoted as saying "I am a Christian, and I spoke to a Christian - I am a true Christian, and I speak the true Christian religion I love and glorify Christ, because Christ came into the world to deliver humanity from slavery ... ". and "You have a duty to educate people, educate people, educate them to be Christians to educate them to be Italians ... Viva Italia Viva Christian". Protestant minister is a minister Alessandro GAVAZZI troops.

An active Freemason, Garibaldi had little use for rituals, but thought of masonry as a network to unite as brothers both within the country progressive and as a member of the global community. He was eventually elected Grand Master of the Grand Orient of Italy.

Giuseppe Garibaldi died at Caprera in 1882, where he was buried. Five Italian Navy ships have been named after him, among them World War II cruisers and used ships, aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi.
Statue of his likeness, and a handshake from Teano, Italy stood in the box a lot, and in other countries around the world. At the top of the Janiculum hill in Rome, there is a statue of Garibaldi on horse back. Her face was originally turned to the Vatican (a reference [citation needed] For his ambition to conquer the Papal States), but after the Lateran Treaty in 1929 changed the orientation of the statue at the request of the Vatican. A statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi clearly placed outside the entrance to the old Supreme Court Room in the United States Capitol Building in Washington, DC, a gift from members of the Italian Society of Washington. Many theaters in Sicily took their name from him and given the name of Garibaldi Theatre.

In a recent book review in The New Yorker (July 9 & 16, 2007) from Garibaldi biography, Tim Parks cites the leading British historian, AJP Taylor, who said, "Garibaldi is the only wholly admirable figure in modern history."

English football team Nottingham Forest designed their home kit after the uniform worn by Garibaldi and his men and has been subject to variations of this design since being founded in 1865. A school in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire is also named after him. Garibaldi biscuit was named after him, like a style of beard. Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy has been awarded annually since 2007 within the framework of the Six Nations rugby to win the match between France and Italy, in memory of Garibaldi.
Garibaldi, Giuseppe Mazzini and along with other Europeans supported the establishment of a European federation. Many Europeans expect the Germans to be united Europe and world leaders to champion and humanitarian policy. This is shown in the following letter written by Giuseppe Garibaldi Karl Blind on April 10, 1865.

Progress of mankind seems to have come to stop, and you are smart you will know why. The reason is that the world does not have a nation that has true leadership. Leadership is, of course, is required not to dominate others, but to lead them along the way tasks, to lead them to the fraternity of nations in which all barriers set up by self-interest will be destroyed. We need the kind of leadership that, in the true tradition of the medieval knight, will devote himself to make amends, support the weak, the expense of quick profit and material gain to achieve a smoother and more satisfying many of reducing the suffering of others. We need a people brave enough to give guidance in this direction. It will rally to the cause of all those who suffer wrong, or who aspire to a better life, and all those who now hold foreign oppression.

World leadership role, left vacant as a matter of days, may also be occupied by the Germans. You Germans, with the character you're serious and philosophical, may also be the ones who can win the trust of others and ensure the future stability of the international community. Let us hope, that you can use your energy to overcome your moth-eaten thirty tyrants of the various German states. Let us hope that in the middle of Europe then you can create a united nation of fifty millions of you. All the rest of us will be excited and happy to follow you

Ban is seen as someone who is cold, in contrast to Kofi Annan who is judged to have charisma but weak in managing emerging issues such as the vegetable oil procurement program for Iraq.

Ban also struggled to get approval from the French. Its official biography notes that he was able to speak English and French, the two main languages used in the UN secretariat. He has repeatedly given trouble answering questions by reporters in Perancis.Dalam a press conference on January 11, 2007, he stated that "my French perhaps could be improved, and I will keep trying to fix it. According to The Washington Post, "the other candidate has expressed his frustration to South Korea, which is the eleventh largest economy in the world because it has used its economic influence to strengthen the candidature Ban." For this statement, Ban responded by saying that

In the second poll, he received 14 votes "exciting" and a vote "disappointing". The Australian reported that a disappointed voice came from Qatar, which implies that the tires have the support of the five permanent Security Council members have the right to veto candidates. In the third poll, Ban encouraging gained 13 votes, one vote Yeng disappointing, and one vote "no opinion". It is unclear whether the 13 supporters this time include the five permanent Security Council members.

The fourth poll conducted on October 2. Poll this time are color coded to distinguish between voice and non-permanent members remain. In the final vote informally held on October 2 in the Security Council, Ban received fourteen votes are expressly agree and one abstention from the UN Security Council members. One abstention provided by the Japanese delegation who opposed the idea of a Korean national to occupy the role of the Secretary-General. Huge support to Ban by all members of the UN Security Council, Japan finally supports Ban to reduce controversy. Other things more important, Ban was the only candidate who avoided a veto, the other candidates received at least one "no" vote by Council members Keamanan.Setelah election, Shashi Tharoor, who were second and then withdraw from the race dirinya.dan Permanent Representative of the PRC to the UN told the media that "everything has been explained by the vote today that Ban Ki-Moon is a candidate to be recommended by the Security Council to the General Assembly.

The office of Secretary-General

When Ban became Secretary-General, in 2007, The Economist makes a list of challenges to his face: "the growing nuclear threat in Iran and North Korea, the conflict in Darfur, the violence that was never finished in the Middle East, the threat of natural disasters, the increasing threat international terrorism, developing weapons of mass destruction, the spread of HIV / AIDS and some other things like business giant that never runs out of the effort to reform the UN history. Previously, Kofi Annan told the Trygve Lie, first Secretary-General, he left a message to his successor, Dag Hammarskjöld, "You will take over the most important job in the world.

On January 23, 2007 Ban began working as the eighth UN Secretary-General. The term of office as Secretary-General Ban begins with a surprise. On January 2, 2007, the initial meeting with the press as the Secretary-General, he refused to impose the death penalty to Saddam Hussein by the Iraqi High Tribunal. Ban statement contradicts the long-term agreement on the rejection of the UN death penalty as a human rights interests. He quickly clarified his statement in the case of Barzan al-Tikriti and Awad al-Bandar, the two principal officers were convicted for the death of 148 Shiite Muslims in the village of Dujail, Iraq in the 1980s. In a statement through his spokesman on January 6, he "strongly urged the Iraqi government to give them a stay of execution to be executed in the near future.] In a broader issue, he told an audience in Washington, DC that he encourages "emerging global trends in the set of the international community, international law and policies to attract domestic as well as the habit gradually death penalty policy.

Cabinet

In early January, Mr. Ban pointed to several important members of his cabinet. Asha-Rose Migiro, professor and foreign ministers from Tanzania was chosen to serve as Deputy Secretary-General - an exciting regeneration for African diplomats because they did not lose his deputy after Annan is no longer in office.
Deputy Secretary-General's office is filled by the Management Alicia Bárcena Ibarra of Mexico. Bárcena previously worked as chief of staff under the leadership of Annan. Ban considered his appointment by some as criticism and indications that are not expected to make major changes in the UN bureaucracy.Ban appointed Sir John Holmes, United Kingdom Ambassador to France, as Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.
At first, Ban said that he would delay making other appointments to the first round of the UN reform program implemented, but then he ignores this idea after receiving kritik.Pada February, he went on his promise, chose B. Lynn Pascoe, U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia, the Deputy Secretary-General for political affairs. Jean-Marie Guehenno, the French diplomat who has worked in the period Annan as Under-Secretary-General for peacekeeping operations maintained its position. Ban chose Vijay K. Nambiar as chief of staff.

Promise to put more women in the office is seen as an important campaign promise realized by Ban. For one year as Secretary-General, the main and important positions held by women more than the period - the time before. Although not appointed by Ban, President of the General Assembly, Haya Rashed Al-Khalifa, became the third woman to hold that position in the history of the United Nations.
