Radovan Karadžić Biography
Radovan Karadzic (Cyrillic Serbia: Радован Караџић, IPA: [râdova ː n kâraʤiʨ]; born in RS Montenegro, RFS Yugoslavia, June 19, 1945, age 66 years) is a former politician, psychiatrist Bosnia from ethnic Serb who is a fugitive from 1995 until July 2008 after being indicted for war crimes by the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (International criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, ICTY) in The Hague, Netherlands. He was arrested on July 21, 2008 in Belgrade. At that time he was in disguise as a worker at an alternative medicine clinic and used the name "Dragan Dabic". He served as President of Republika Srpska from 1992 to 1996.
The ICTY indicted Karadzic for war crimes of genocide during the Bosnian War of 1992-1995. In addition, Karadzic is also involved in the siege of Sarajevo for 43 months (from 5 April 1992 to February 29, 1996), which killed about 12,000 people in the massacre of more than 8,000 adult men and children of Muslims in Srebrenica in July 1995.
