Evander Holyfield Life Story

Evander Holyfield 
Evander Holyfield (born October 19, 1962) is an American professional boxer. He is a former Undisputed World Champion in both the cruiserweight division and weight class, earning him the nickname "The Real Deal." After winning the bronze medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1984 Summer Olympics, she debuted as a professional at the age of 21.
Holyfield moved to the cruiserweight division in 1985 and won his first title the following year, when he beat Dwight Muhammad Qawi for the WBA cruiserweight belt. He would then go on to beat Ricky Parkey and Carlos De Leon to win, lineal IBF and WBC titles, cruiserweight champion does not need. Holyfield move to heavyweight in 1988, defeating Buster Douglas to The Ring, lineal, WBC, WBA and IBF titles in 1990.

Evander Holyfield holds other important victories over fighters such as George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe, Ray Mercer, Mike Tyson (x2), Michael Moorer, John Ruiz, Hasim Rahman and Michael Dokes. Holyfield is the only 4-time World Heavyweight Champion, won the WBA, WBC, and IBF in 1990, WBA and IBF titles in 1993 and the WBA title in 1996 and 2000.

Professional boxer. Born on October 19, 1962, in Atmore, Alabama. Often referred to as the "Real Deal" Holyfield is known as four-time heavyweight world champion. Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, he took boxing lessons as a child. He competed as an amateur in the Golden Gloves competition in the early 1980's. After winning the national Golden Gloves championships in 1984, Holyfield made the U.S. Olympic team. Proud to represent the country at the 1984 Olympics held in Los Angeles, he suffered a great disappointment on the court. He was disqualified in the semifinal against Kevin Barry of New Zealand to beat his opponent after a break. Many who witnessed the battle has been disputed referee's call. Despite these obstacles personally, Holyfield did not receive the bronze medal.



Boxing as a Professional

After the Olympics, Holyfield turned professional and began to fight at heavyweight and cruiserweight junior. He won the title (WBA) World Boxing Association Cruiserweight World in 1986 by defeating defending champion Dwight Qwai. Holyfield trained hard to become big enough and strong enough to compete as a heavyweight fighter. In 1990, he became World Heavyweight Champion, defeating James "Buster" Douglas, the holder of the WBA, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Council (WBC) title. Douglas Holyfield took just seven minutes.

Competition Holyfield Riddick Bowe boxer starts with at the beginning of the 1990s when he suffered a great defeat to Bowe in 1992, lost his title. It was the first loss in 29 professional fights. After briefly considering retirement, Holyfield back in court and anxious to claim his title. He did only when he got the rematch with Bowe in 1993, won by decision. Holyfield did not hold the title for too long. The following year Michael Moorer beat him by decision.

And fight with Tyson

Health problems sidelined famous boxer for a time, but he returned to court and eventually fight one of the most famous boxer in history, Mike Tyson. Holyfield beat Tyson in their first meeting in 1996, won the WBA title. No one can imagine what happens in their struggle, however. In the fight, Tyson bit Holyfield twice in the ear - the second time he took a piece of Holyfield ear. Tyson was disqualified, and the odd behavior on the court became international news. Holyfield, a deeply religious man, forgave his adversary. A few months after this incident, Holyfield took back IBF title from Michael Moore to knock him out in round eight, making it a separate win a third title.

In 1999, Holyfield took another legendary fighter Lennox Lewis, the WBC heavyweight title. The first match between the two heavy hitters ended in a draw, but Lewis emerged victorious in a rematch later in the same year. Holyfield goes for fourth championship in 2000, unseating the WBA champion John Ruiz. This victory was short-lived, however. Ruiz beat Holyfield in a rematch next year.

Life Outside the Ring

Holyfield continued to box. Prove that he is still a challenger, he beat Jeremy Bates by knockout in August 2006 - the first effort in nearly two years. With a slow boxing career, Holyfield has been exploring other business opportunities. He attracted a lot of attention to footwork, not punches, appearing as a participant in Dancing with the Stars, television competition that teams up celebrities with professional dancers in 2005.

Off stage and out the ring, Holyfield devote some time to help young people. Holyfield Foundation supports a variety of programs for children in the city center. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
