Eric Emerson Schmidt (born 27 April 1955) is a technician, a former member of the board of directors of Apple Inc.., and chief executive of Google. In the 2001-2011, he served as CEO of Google. He also co-maker lex lexical analyzer software for Unix. He also served as a member of the Board of Trust Carnegie Mellon University and Princeton University.
Education
After graduating from Yorktown High School (Virginia), Schmidt continues to Princeton University where he received bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He also received MS in 1979 and PhD in 1982 in EECS from the University of California, Berkeley.
Biography
Schmidt was born in Washington, DC, and grew up in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States. After graduating from Yorktown High School, Schmidt attended Princeton University where he earned a BS degree in electrical engineering in 1976. At the University of California, Berkeley, he earned an MS in 1979 to design and implement a computer network linking the central campus, the CS and the EECS department, and PhD in 1982 at the EECS with a dissertation on the subject of Managing distributed software development and tools to solve this problem. He is joint author of lex (lexical analyzer and an essential tool for compiler construction). He taught at the Stanford Graduate School of Business as a part-time professor.
Schmidt and his wife Wendy live in Atherton, California in 1999.In 2011, he was reportedly dating Lisa Shields, a communications executive for the Council on Foreign Relations, a foreign policy based in New York think tank.
He was on the ARTnews list of best 200 art collectors in 2008.
He is also a member of the Bilderberg Group and attended the 2011 Bilderberg conference in Switzerland St Moritz, Switzerland.
