Ravi Shankar-Famous Musicians from India
Ravi Shankar (born 7 April, 1920, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India) is a composer known for his skill Indian sitar playing.
He was a disciple of Allauddin Khan (founder of the school of Indian classical music, Maihar gharana), Pandit Ravi Shankar is a well-known Indian instrumentalist with his pioneering work that brings the power and charm of the classical music tradition of India to the West. This is accomplished through a partnership with The Beatles, especially George Harisson and also because of his personal charisma. His musical career spans over six decades and Shankar recently held the Guinness record for longest international career.
