Ayatollah Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini |
Seyyed Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini (born in Khomein, Markazi Province, 24 September 1902 - died in Tehran, Iran, June 3, 1989 at the age of 86 years) is the leader of the Iranian Revolution and the first Iranian Supreme Leader.
Born in Khomeyn, Iran. He studied theology at Arak and later in the holy city of Qom, where he took the place of permanent residence and began to build a political base to counter the royal family of Iran, Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi in particular. His first major test - and the first real sense of politics - came in 1962 when the Shah managed to get a bill that devotes some power on the provincial council and the city. A number of Islamic followers objected to the newly elected representatives and not required to swear on the Koran but in the sacred texts of each of his choice. Khomeini used this anger and organize nationwide strikes that cause rejection of the bill.
Khomeini used this strong position to deliver sermons from the charged state Faiziyveh School in collusion with Israel and trying to "discredit al-Qur-an." The inevitable arrest by the Iranian secret police, SAVAK, provoke massive unrest and violence are common reactions by security forces resulting in the deaths of thousands of people.
Khomeini continued hard during the following years and the first anniversary of the riot troops Shah moved to the city of Qom, the Imam arrested before sending into exile in Turkey. He lived there for a while before moving to Iraq where continuing unrest to the fall of the Shah. In 1978 the Shah asked Iraq to throw him out of Najaf, then to Paris for a while he was growing profile as a direct reflection of the fall of the Shah. The latter ridiculous warnings in Persepolis started grate with the crowds and chaos following the series of Shah family left the country in February 1979, paving the way for the return of Khomeini and the 'beginning of Islamic Revolution'. Welcomed hundreds of thousands of people at the airport and thousands more who lined all the way back to Tehran. Iran Ayatollah rightly viewed as himself, and Khomeinipun a spiritual leader. Tehran into seats of power, far from the heart of the city of Qom.
In 1981 Iraq attacked Iran. The war lasted eight years full of destroyed lives of millions of Muslims on both sides without the benefit of each fight.
Khomeini died in Tehran on June 3, 1989.
