Abdelaziz Bouteflika (IPA: [abdəlazɪz butəflika]) (Arabic: عبد العزيز بوتفليقة) (born March 2, 1937 in Oujda, Morocco) is the President of Algeria since 1999.


Family

Abdelaziz Bouteflika got married in August 1990 and have not / do not have children of their spouses. His wife, Amal Triki is the daughter of ex-diplomat (Yahia Triki).
Abdelaziz Bouteflika is the leader of the Algerian War of Independence and served as Minister of Youth and Sports as the independence of Algeria in 1962. In the following year, he was appointed as Minister for Foreign Affairs and a member of the board of representatives in the legislature. During his tenure as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Al-Jazair become a very prominent member of the international community and respected as a leader of the NAM for the nations who do not want to take part in the western block (United States) that the capitalist and the Eastern Bloc (Soviet Union) that socialist. In 1965, he was promoted as the head organizer group plotted a coup d'etat by Ahmed Ben Bella. He quit as Foreign Minister in 1979 after losing his bid to succeed President Houari Boumedienne.
Between 1981-1987, he was discharged because of alleged corruption as said by his political opponents, but returned after the case had died. He signed a deal with the brutality protest government declared in 1988 and became the center of attention.
In 1999, he was appointed to the presidency and as a potential-free, with 74% of the vote, according to authorities. Throughout the other candidates had withdrawn from the election, citing fraud concerns. Then Bouteflika organize a referendum on its policies for restoring peace and security in al-Jazair and test its support among the countrymen after the seizure of the election and won with 81% of the vote.
On 8 April 2004, he was re-elected secular president with 85% in an election that observers say as an example of democracy in the Arab world, as a bone of contention with his rival and former Chief of Staff Ali Benflis.
