Eva Charlotta Schelin (born February 27, 1984), commonly referred to as Lotta Schelin, is a Swedish football player who currently plays for Olympique Lyonnais a division of feminine. He played as a striker and is a member of the Swedish women's national team, after debuting in 2004.
Schelin height, strength, and offensive techniques has led to the former Danish national team manager Peter Bonde woman comparing her fellow Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic. [1] He credits his older brother and former teammate, Camilla Schelin, and Tina Nordlund, just as important role models for her.Biography
Early career
Schelin Kållered grew up outside of Gothenburg and started playing football for Kållereds SK along with his sister, Camilla . He also played for Molnlycke IF. Schelin also proficient in sports like table tennis track and field, and snowboarding before choosing to focus on football full time. As a teenager, he developed problems with his spine and was advised to stop playing sports. Schelin went through intense strength training and recovered by the time he turned 17.
Club career
In 2001, when he was 17, debuting at Schelin Damallsvenskan to Landvetter FC, now known as FC Gothenburg. He played in over 100 league games with the club to establish itself as one of the most prominent players club. After an injury in August 2002, he was out of the league for almost a year and a half back in June 2003. In 2004 Schelin named Breakthrough Player of the Year, after scoring 14 goals in 15 games for FC Gothenburg.
Despite offers from other clubs Damallsvenskan, Schelin choose to live in his hometown. After re-branding and re-launch of the new United States-based league, Mobile GOAL.com Professional, Schelin said that he would be interested in playing in the league. However, after the 2008 Olympics, Schelin announced that he would join the Feminine Division 1 club Olympique Lyonnais in France. After signing his contract, he speculated that Schelin will be earning more than 1 million kr ($ 160,000 USD) per year. On 24 September 2008, Schelin designed by Saint Louis Athletica in the WPS International Draft in 2008. He then turned down the chance to join the club citing his contract with Lyon as the main reason.
International career
Schelin made his debut for the Swedish national team on March 16, 2004; a 3-0 defeat for the Algarve Cup France.She then represent his nation at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. The following year, Schelin suffered injuries in the groin and hamstring, which required extensive rest.
In 2006, Schelin is a key player in the 2006 edition of the Algarve Cup; leading Sweden to finish the third place of honor. He scored the only goal in the bronze medal victory over France. For his efforts, Schelin was awarded the Diamond Ball as the best female soccer player in the country. In the same year, he was named Forward of the Year at the Damallsvenskan. Schelin success that made him the face of his country and he was rewarded when he was selected to attend the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup draw in China on behalf of Sweden.
