Stephen E. Ambrose - American historian and biographer

 Stephen Edward Ambrose was famous American historian andbiographer of U.S. Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and Richard Nixon. He was along time professor of history at the University of New Orleans and the authorof several best selling volumes of American popular history. Beginning late inhis life and continuing after his death, however, proof and reports havecontinued to surface documenting long time patterns of plagiarism,falsification, and inaccuracy in many of his published writings and other work.In reaction to one of the early reports, Ambrose said he was not "outthere stealing other people's writings."

In 1998, he got the National Humanities Medal. In 2000,Ambrose got the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service,the top honorary award the Department of Defense offers to civilians. In 2001,he was awarded the Theodore Roosevelt Medal for illustrious Service from theTheodore Roosevelt Association. Ambrose won an Emmy as one of the producer forthe mini-series Band of Brothers. Ambrose also got the George Marshall Award,the Abraham Lincoln Literary Award, and the Bob Hope Award from theCongressional Medal of Honor Society, and the Will Rogers Memorial Award.

Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum

The Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum is one of thirteenpresidential libraries administer by the National Archives and RecordsAdministration. The library houses 45 million pages of historical papers,including the papers of Lyndon Baines Johnson and those of his close associatesand others. The library was dedicated on May 22, 1971, with Johnson and PresidentRichard Nixon in attendance. The present director is presidential historianMark K. Updegrove.

The top floor of the library has a 7/8ths level replica ofthe Oval Office decorated as it was during Johnson's presidency. The museumsprovide year-round public viewing of its permanent historical and culturalexhibits and its several traveling exhibits. The library is the onlypresidential library not to charge admission, and has the top visitation of anypresidential library. Upon her death in July 2007 Lady Bird Johnson lay inrepose in the Library, just as her husband had 34 years earlier.

Gerald Ford

Gerald Rudolph Ford was served as the 38th President of the United State. As the first person selected to the vice-presidency under the terms of the 25th Amendment, when he became President upon Richard Nixon's resignation on August 9, 1974, he also became the only President of the United States who was selected neither President nor Vice-President. Ford signed the Helsinki Accords, marking a travel toward detente in the Cold War. Ford presided over what was then the bad economy since the Great Depression, with growing inflation and a collapse during his tenure. Ford’s incumbency, foreign policy was characterized in practical terms by the increased role Congress began to play, and by the equivalent curb on the powers of the President. He lived longer than any U.S. president, dying at the age of 93 years and 165 days.

Richard Nixon

Richard Nixon (January 9, 1913 – April 22, 1994) was the 37th President of the United States from 1969–1974 and was also the 36th Vice President of the United States (1953–1961). Nixon was the only President to resign the office and also the only person to be chosen twice to both the Presidency and the Vice Presidency.

Nixon was born in Yorba Linda, California, USA. After completing his scholar work at Whittier College, he graduated from Duke University School of Law in 1937 and returned to California to practice law in La Habra. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, he joined the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific theater, and rose to the rank of Lieutenant leader during World War II.

He was selected in 1946 as a Republican to the House of Representatives representing California's 12th Congressional district, and in 1950 to the United States Senate. He was selected to be the running mate of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Republican Party candidate, in the 1952 Presidential election, becoming one of the youngest Vice Presidents in history.
