Nicole Johnson

http://the-american-history.blogspot.com/Nicole Johnson is an American pageant titleholder from Seminole, Florida who held the Miss America title in 1999. She is currently a diabetes advocate, having been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1993. She nonstop competing and placed in the top ten at Miss Virginia 1997. In March 1998 she won the Miss Lynchburg title and go on to win the Miss Virginia 1998 title on June 29, 1998. In September he represented Virginia in the Miss America 1999 pageant, becoming the second woman in place of that state to win the Miss America title. She sang that’s Life in the talent war. Johnson became a spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association in the 1990s and had testified in lawmaking hearings in Washington, D.C. prior to winning the Miss Virginia title. In 1997 she started wearing a small insulin pump on her hip to control her illness, which she wore while competing at Miss Virginia and Miss America. Prior to winning the Miss USA title she had worked for the Christian Broadcasting Network in adding to her diabetes advocacy.

Heather Whitestone

http://the-american-history.blogspot.com/Heather Leigh Whitestone McCallum is a former beauty queen who was the first deaf Miss America title holder, having gone most of her hearing at the age of eighteen months. Whitestone competed in several beauty pageants, winning the Shelby County Junior Miss pageant. Her first year in the Miss America system, she won the Miss Jacksonville State University title and go on to be first runner up to Miss Alabama 1992, Kim Wimmer, the winner from Alabama since the 1978 Miss America pageant. As Miss America Heather showcased her S.T.A.R.S. program everyone around the country. S.T.A.R.S. for stands "Success Through Action and Realization of your dreams." S.T.A.R.S. has five position which are; positive attitude, belief in a dream, the willingness to work hard, facing obstacles, and building a strong support team. She was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and has continued to support awareness of deaf issues. She wrote about her life incident in her third book, Let God Surprise You: Trust God with Your Dreams.In 1995 the field again pointed to Miss Alabama and Miss Virginia.
