Gene Tierney - film and stage actress

Gene Tierney

Gene Tierney was famous American film and stage actress. Acclaimed as one of the huge beauties of her day, she is best remembered for her presentation in the title role of Laura (1944) and her Academy Award-nominated presentation for Best Actress in Leave Her to Heaven (1945). Other notable character include Martha Strable Van Cleve in Heaven Can Wait, Isabel Bradley Maturin in The Razor's Edge, Lucy Muir in The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Ann Sutton in Whirlpool and Anne Scott in The Left Hand of God. Certain fragments of her film-related material and individual papers are contained in the Wesleyan University Cinema Archives, to which scholars and media professional from around the world may have full access.

Tierney came back to act in the television movie Daughter of the Mind with Don Murray and Ray Milland. Her last presentation was in the TV miniseries Scruples. In 1960, Tierney sent Kennedy a message of congratulations on his election victory; she later admits that she had voted for Richard Nixon, saying, "I thought that he would create a better president." In 1958, Tierney met Texas oil baron W. Howard Lee, who was wedded to Hedy Lamarr from 1953 to 1960. Tierney and Lee married in Aspen, Colorado on July 11, 1960, and lived in Houston, Texas. In 1962, 20th Century Fox announce Tierney would play the lead role in Return to Peyton Place, but she became pregnant and dropped out of the project. Tierney later miscarried.

The Golden Globe Award is an accolade grant by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association identify excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. The annual formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented is a important part of the film industry's awards season, which culminate every year with the Academy Awards. The first Golden Globe Awards were held in Jan 1944 at the 20th Century Fox studios in Los Angeles. The 69th Golden Globe Awards, honoring the most excellent in film and television for 2011, will be presented on January 15, 2012, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, where they have been held yearly since 1961.

The broadcast of the Golden Globe Awards, telecast to 167 countries worldwide, normally ranks as the third most-watched awards show every year, behind only the Oscars and the Grammy Awards. Until Ricky Gervais hosted the 67th yearly Golden Globe Awards Ceremony in 2010, the award ceremony was one of two major Hollywood award ceremonies that did not have a usual host; each year a different presenter introduced the ceremony at the beginning of the broadcast. Gervais returned to host the 68th year Golden Globe Awards in 2011, and will return to host the 69th year Golden Globe Awards in 2012.

In September 2009, Breslin film in Des Moines, Iowa,playing the title personality in the film Janie Jones: a 13-year old girl who is abandoned by herformer-groupie mother, and informs Ethan Brand, a fading rock star, that she ishis daughter. The film premiered at the 2010 Toronto International FilmFestival. She appear in the 2011 romance-comedy 'New Years Eve.'

Myrna Loy

Myrna Loy is famous American actress. Trained as a dancer,she dedicated herself fully to an acting career following a few minor roles insilent films. Originally typecast in exotic roles, often as a vamp or a womanof Asian descent, her career prospects enhanced following her portrayal of NoraCharles in The Thin Man (1934). Her winning pairing with William Powellresulted in 14 films together, including five consequent Thin Man films. In1965 she win the Sarah Siddons Award for her work in Chicago theatre.
