The early years
Born as 夏令 正-Ling Zheng Xia (Hsia Ling-Jun) in Hong Kong, Yuen fifth child of six children. He studied at the China Drama Academy between the ages of five to sixteen years, and thereafter he developed his career in Hong Kong film industry.
Film career
The early 1970s
In the early 1970s, Yuen began working as a stuntman and a supporting role. After a role in the film berjudulFist of Fury, Way of the Dragon, Yuen became a stunt for the film Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon, 1973. He also is one of the "imitation" of Bruce Lee in the film Game of Death (1978), perform various acrobatic movements and the stunt where Bruce Lee "body double" (Taekwondo expert, Tai Chung Kim) can not do it. Yuen continued to work as a stuntman, and also as an actor in the world of Hong Kong film industry.
In the early days of his role, he uses the stage name Bill Yuen for Hong Kong films are circulated to the international community. Along with the success that came with Jackie Chan with Golden Harvest, which has the same name, then the credits roll his name written as "Jimmy Yuen".
Late 1970s and 1980s
Late 1970s and early 1980s, thanks to his good relations with his friends and classmates, Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan, he began working regularly as an actor. After playing as a maid in the film starring The Dragon, the Odds (1977) and its role as the lead role in Knockabout (1978), he became famous through several successful films in the early 1980s, one of which is often called The Prodigal Son (directed by Sammo Hung) and Dreadnaught (directed by Yuen Woo-ping). Then he also played together with "brother" of Peking Opera School, Chan and Hung, the film Project A, Wheels on Meals and Dragons Forever.
