Hideki Yukawa was born in 1907 in Tokyo, the third son of Takuji Ogawa a professor of geology at Kyoto Imperial University (now Kyoto University). He obtained his MS degree from Kyoto University in 1929 and DSc (equivalent to S3) from Osaka University in 1938. Between 1932 and 1938, he followed the footsteps of his father became a lecturer at Kyoto University and in 1939 he became professor of theoretical physics at the university.
