Vincent van Gogh Biography





Vincent Willem van Gogh (Dutch words: [vɪnsɛnt vɑnxɔx] (help · info)) (March 30, 1853 - 29 July 1890) is a post-impressionist Dutch painter. The paintings and drawings, including works of art at its best, the most famous and most expensive in the world. Van Gogh is regarded as one of the greatest painters in European art history.


In his youth Van Gogh worked in a company selling works of art, and after some time working as a teacher, he served as a missionary who works in a very poor mining region. He had become an artist in 1880. At first his work using dark colors. Only when in Paris he met with impressionism and neo-impressionism that the colors are brighter and developed his painting style into a unique style and easily recognizable. This style of painting to achieve the full level of development when he lived in Arles, France.



Initially followed the typical painter of his time with impressionism style. But dissatisfaction with the restraints of artistic expression by the grip makes it impressionism turned on the style of expressionism.
Vincent Van Gogh was diagnosed with severe epilepsy. Diagnosis is made by 2 different doctors who cared for him. Van Gogh also had to cut his own ear.


At the end of his life, he felt himself to be mad and end up spending the rest of his life in hospital Soul of Saint Paul-de-Mausole in Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France. In R.S. Soul of Saint Paul-de-Mausole, he still paints.
