Yaya Touré Gnégnéri (born on May 13, 1983), commonly known as Yaya Touré, is the Ivory Coast footballer who plays as midfielder for Premier League club Manchester City and Cote d'Ivoire national team. He played with Yaya Touré's name on his jersey.
He was known for combining the speed and physical power of the technique and has 58 caps for the Ivory Coast, representing the team in their first appearance at the FIFA World Cup, the competition in 2006 and the year 2010. He is the brother of Côte d'Ivoire and Manchester City team-mate Kolo Touré. He also has a brother named Ibrahim, who now plays for Egyptian side Makasa.

Career Club


Early career

Touré joined ASEC Mimosas youth academy in 1996 at the recommendation of the term mentor Patrick van Reijendam. He then moved to Europe where he played for Belgian side Beveren for two and a half years and then for one and a half years in the Ukraine side Metalurh Donetsk.


Olympiacos

Touré then moved to Olympiacos in 2005. He is nicknamed "the new Patrick Vieira" by his brother.
