 Subhash Kak




Subhash Kak (1947 -) poet, philosopher and literary Hindi.
Subhash Kak is a professor and head of the Department of Computer Science at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
Born in Srinagar, Kashmir, he completed the Ph.D. Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and later joined as a professor. During 1979-2007, he was with the Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge with his last position as the Donald C. and Elaine T. Delaune Distinguished Professor Electrical and Computer Engineering. His technical research in the field of information theory, neural networks, and quantum information. He also writes about the history of science and art of India. This work and the resolution of the twin paradox of relativity theory has received considerable attention in the popular press.
His work has been exhibited in the popular media including Discovery and History channel, PBS, Dutch Public TV OHM, and most recently in a documentary about the music (www.ragaunveiled.com). He has written about the philosophy of mind and shows how recursion plays a fundamental role in art, music and aesthetics.


He is the author of 12 books is the most recent "Prajna Sutra: aphorisms of Intuition." He also has written six books of verse. These books have been translated into French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korea, and Serbia. India Govind Chandra Pande distinguished scholars have been compared with William Wordsworth poem.


Among his awards include the British Council Fellow (1976), Academy of Sciences Indian National Science Academy Medal (1977), Kothari Prize (1977), UNESCO Tokten Award (1986), Goyal Prize (1998), Fellow of Indian National Institute of Advanced Study (2001 ), and IIT Delhi Distinguished Alumni (2002).
