Biography Scorpions - "Wind Of Change"


Formed in 1969 by Rudolf Schenker (Rhytm guitar / vocals), Karl-Heinz Follmer (Lead Guitar), Lothar Heimberg (bass), and Wolfgang Dziony (drums). In 1971, Michael Schenker (Rudolf Schenker's brother) joined the band as lead guitar, but it also joins as a new vocalist Klaus Meine. In 1972 they recorded 'Lonesome Crow' which became the soundtrack of a movie in German "Das Paradies Kalte '. Them is the hard rock group from Hannover, Germany, best known through her songs "Rock You Like a Hurricane", "Wind of Change" and "Still Loving You".

Although they failed to gain public attention, a rock band in the 70's UFO was drawn to play the guitar Michael Schenker and would like to hire him as lead guitarist. In 1973, Michael came out and replaced by Uli Jon Roth, under his guidance, Scorpion bringing forth four consecutive albums with RCA Records: Fly to the Rainbow (1974), In Trance (1975), Virgin Killer (1976), and Taken by Force (1977). Despite their albums failed to receive serious attention by the public in America, but they were able to achieve success in Japan. At the time of release of Taken by Force, Roth decided to come out and form Electric Sun after feeling that the different musical direction with scorppion. Tokyo Tapes is a double live album they recorded in Tokyo with Roth's release in 1978. Soon after Roth left the band.

In 1979, Michael was fired from a UFO because of his addiction to alcohol that is severe enough, he re-joined the Scorpions with the previous band had signed a contract with Mercury Records. They then released 'Lovedrive' and in the same year they undergo its first American tour, but unfortunately they again failed to gain the attention of the American public even Lovedrive album circulated in the United States banned the use of cover that is too vulgar. Still trapped in the snare of alcohol and drugs, Michael missed tour dates repeatedly that they must go, until the Scorpions guitarist Matthias Jabs had to hire to replace him at the time of their concerts. Michael eventually left the band for the second time.


Now with formation formation Klaus Meine (vocals), Rudolf Schenker (guitar), Matthias Jabs (Lead Guitar), Francis Buchholz (bass) and Herman Rarebel (drums), they released 'Animal Magnetism' in 1980 and again touring the world. Surprisingly this album won gold in America, and the Scorpions immediately back into the studio to record their next album release. New problems arise when Meine suddenly lost his voice and had to undergo surgery on his vocal cords. Many rumors spread saying that Meine had been fired from the band and was replaced by Don Dokken. Scorpions prove that the rumors that developed over this is not true with the return Meine on the album 'Blackout' was released in 1982. The album was successful the world, in America alone the album sold more than one million copies. Their success continued with the release of the album 'Love at First Sting' in 1984, this album popularized the song "Rock You Like a Hurricane 'which then generates double platinum.

After the release of Live Wild World in 1985, they disappeared for two years from the music industry. Their tenth album 'Savage Amusement' eventual release in 1988, they went back to success with the song 'Rhythm of Love'. In 1990, the album 'Crazy World' was released and became their most successful album in history, this album popularized the song "Wind of Change '.

Crazy World album became their last album a success. In 1993 they released 'Face The Heat' which unfortunately at that time their fans are not interested in them along with the development trend of alternative music in the early 90's. Album 'Face The Heat' finally get the gold, and in 1995 they then released the live album 'Live Bites'. Now with Base Ralph and drummer James Kottak Rieckermann, they released 'Pure Instinct' in 1996. Mercury Records released the double album best Scorpions' Deadly Sting: The Mercury Years "in 1997. Their experimental album with pop-techno melodies style 'Eye II Eye' release in the summer of 1999. Moment of Glory album featuring the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and some re-arrangements of old songs Scorpion was released in the fall of 2000.


In November 2009, the Scorpions have announced that their 17th studio album, Sting in the Tail, to be released in early 2010. recorded in Hannover with Swedish producer Mikael "Nord" Andersson and Martin Hansen. Sting in the Tail was released on March 23, 2010. On January 24, 2010, the band announced that the Sting in the Tail will be their last album and the tour supporting it will be their last tour. Dokken is scheduled to open for them but was canceled after a dispute. The tour is expected to end in 2012 or 2013. On April 6, 2010, the Scorpions have been immortalized in Hollywood's Rock Walk in handprint ceremonies, with the band members put their hands in wet cement slab length. Slab will be placed in the ground next to other music artists on Rock Walk.

Scorpions put an end to his musical career in 2010, as their press release dated January 24, 2010 on the official website. Their last album was released in March 2010 followed by a tour of the world.
